Anyone in the Philippines, specially the youth of the early '90s surely know who the ERASERHEADS were. "The pinoy band who revived PINOY ROCK". Composed of ELY BUENDIA - vocals, MARCUS ADORO - guitars, BUDDY ZABALA - Bass & RAYMUND MARASIGAN - percussions.
This month, ELY had a heart attack at a very young age (around 30's).He underwent major surgery called andioplasty - a surgery performed to remove the blockage around the heart which prevents it from pumping....and one of the major causes of death. Andioplasty, not only sounds and looks difficult in the true sense of the word but is also one of the most expensive surgeries, that's why last night, a free concert was held at Eastwood City in Libis for the benefit of ELY BUENDIA.
Rockers unite as they gave respect to the lead vocals of e-heads. Everyone performed for free! and donation boxes are roamed around by the staff and even by the artists themselves to collect whatever amount they can have to help ELY shoulder his medical expenses and lifetime medication.
I'm sure that every pinoy, even once in his life was touched or affected somehow by the music and the magic of eraserheads.
Here are the list of some of the performers last night who testified that they were influenced by the greatness of ELY and the eraserheads that's why they performed for free to help ely recover and still hope that someday, we can hear him sing and play his guitar again.
True Faith, Rivermaya, Francis M., Spongecola, Parokya ni Edgar, Kamikazee, Chicosci, Updharmadown, Dicta License, Itchyworms, Kitchie Nadal, Moonstar 88, Salindiwa, Greyhoundz, Makatha, Julianne, Teeth, Ciudad, Paramitha and more. KC montero was also there. Magic 89.9 did a live coverage.
